Nhia is the CEO of NC Interiors. She is a professional interior designer,
educator, author, and an advocate for community involvement. She began her
career working in the design industry as an employee and later started her own
interior design company in 2006, NC Interiors, LLC. Her professional
background is diverse in the interior design industry. She has designed
extravagant exhibits, restaurants, and residential kitchen and bathrooms.
Nhia’s educational background includes a BA in interior design from the Art
Institute of Colorado and an MBA from the University of Phoenix.
Nhia's academic experience started with volunteering for CABPES (Colorado
Association of Black Professional Engineers and Scientists). She was a teaching
assistant in the architecture class. She contributed by teaching AutoCAD
(software program for engineers and designers) to high school students for
duration of two years. She then began teaching in higher education and was the
assistant program director for the school of design at Westwood College Online
for two years. Nhia has developed several interior design courses ranging from
basic drafting to 3-D visualization. In addition to developing the courses, she
developed various online tutorials teaching the different software programs that
interior designers use.
Nhia is currently a professional member of ASID (American Society of Interior
Designers), IIDA (International Interior Design Association), and IDEC (Interior
Design Educators Council) which are professional organizations for interior
designers. She is also an NCIDQ (National Council for Interior Design
Qualification) certificate holder.
